Keeping financial records can be difficult for anyone, no matter how big or small the task may be. If you’ve chosen to work with an accountant to help keep your finances in better working order, you may be interested to know that there are still some things your accountant needs from you in order to do their job well.

Two Things You Should Do to Help Your Accountant

  1. Stay Organized- It would be nice if we could just plop all of our receipts and bank statements on the desk of our accountant and they could sort through it all. Unfortunately, this is not a viable way to help them do their job effectively or efficiently. Keeping your financial records organized by type and/or by date can go a long way towards helping them track expenses and income on your behalf.
  2. Be Honest and Responsive- Another important thing you’ll want to do to help your accountant is to be honest when they have questions about your financial records. Answering simple questions about financial details will help them keep more accurate records. Furthermore, being responsive and working as a team player will give both you and your accountant confidence in a job well done.
